Brian J. Zikmund-Fisher, PhD, Assistant Professor, UM School of Public Health Dr. Zikmund-Fisher is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Behavior and Health Education at the University of Michigan School of Public Health and has affiliations with the UM Department of Internal Medicine, the UM Center for Health Communications Research, and the UM Center for Behavioral and Decision Sciences in Medicine. A behavioral scientist with training and expertise in decision psychology, survey research, and behavioral economics, Dr. Zikmund-Fisher uses his interdisciplinary background to understand and improve individuals' health and medical decision making, with a particular emphasis on health, medical, and environmental risk communication and the role of numeracy (people's ability to understand numerical data) in designing effective health communications. He currently serves on the editorial board of Medical Decision Making and has published in journals as varied as Patient Education and Counseling, Risk Analysis, the Journal of Health Communication, and Cancer.
