Kathy Wahl, RN, MSN
Kathy earned her diploma in Nursing at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI in 1977. She has a Bachelor’s in Community Development from Central Michigan University, and a Masters in Nursing from Walden University.
Kathy has an extensive background in healthcare at many different levels ranging from staff RN to interim Vice President of Patient Care Services in a community hospital. Most of her clinical years were spent as an ED nurse and ED Director, which led to her interest and involvement in emergency management. She has also been the Chief Medical Examiner Investigator for Shiawassee County, and is an active member of the Michigan Mortuary Response Team (MI MORT).
In her current position, Kathy serves as the Emergency Management Coordinator for the Michigan Department of Community Health representing the Director of MDCH in the State Emergency Operations Center during disasters or emergencies. She oversees the MDCH Emergency Operations Plan and is a member of the Homeland Security Protection Committee. She works closely with both the Hospital Preparedness Program and the Public Health Emergency Preparedness Program staff at the Office of Public Health Preparedness.
Kathy also serves as a lecturer for the University of Michigan Flint in the nursing program.
